Microsoft's collaboration tool

Microsoft Teams is Microsoft's entry to the growing collaboration app market. This communication tool is made for large businesses, giving users a feature-rich way of conducting meetings remotely. It combines the functions of predominantly text-based services like Slack with the video and audio messaging capabilities of conferencing apps, such as Zoom. The software sits nicely inside the Office 365 ecosystem. You can get it for your business using the Microsoft Office 365 Business or Enterprise account.

Feature-complete business messaging platform

Microsoft Teams allows you to connect with hundreds of other users. Using the app, you can send text-based messages, send files, and even conduct video conferences. Additionally, you can make one-on-one or group calls. There is even an option to conduct video calls or audio-only calls. You can also enable the screen-sharing function during your conference to help during your presentation.

The Microsoft Teams' interface allows you to chat with whoever is online. As with other instant messaging apps, you can send a message to Teams or individuals. Moreover, it lets you save important conversations and even customize your notification, so you can focus more on important messages. Since it sits within the Office 365 ecosystem, you can get the enterprise-level security and compliance that the app offers.

Microsoft Teams has the potential needed for a fully functioning collaboration system. However, while it may be feature-rich, it requires heavy investment from the users. Unlike Slack, which easily directs you to your conversations, the app will have you compartmentalize people into teams. The more teams you create, the harder it is to navigate. There are also various layers that you need to go through before you can actually go to the conversation tab.

Enhanced collaboration and communication

In an effort to enhance collaboration within Teams, Loop components have been introduced in channels. This feature allows users to maintain their workflow and synchronize content seamlessly. That means composing a post in a channel facilitates co-creation and collaboration with Loop components like tables, lists, progress trackers, and more. The program has also improved search experience with the addition of the "find in channel" search button.

Users can now easily search within a specific chat or channel and view the results in the right pane of the screen. This functionality enables a quick review of search results alongside the channel or chat interface, providing convenience without disrupting the workflow. Domain-specific search filters further enhance search efficiency. It allows users to quickly find specific content by narrowing down results with filters like "files," "group chats," or "teams and channels."

Additionally, to ensure users never miss a conversation, a new chat button in the activity feed simplifies following up on missed calls by initiating a conversation with the person they missed. What's more, the Files app in Teams undergoes a transformation with the integration of the OneDrive app. This update brings the latest OneDrive features, performance improvements, and additional views directly to the left side of the Teams desktop client.

Users can also now access their past Copilot conversations. Opening the Copilot flyout and typing in a question enables users to view their previous interactions with Copilot. This feature facilitates a comprehensive understanding of past conversations, contributing to a more streamlined and informed collaborative experience within Teams.

Still an effective way to communicate

Microsoft Teams is a communication tool well-suited to organizations. It offers a competent video conferencing service, with other functions that allow easy collaboration between users. The app also earns points for its customizability and support to a wide range of apps integration. It is harder to navigate, but once you get past that, it will be a lot easier to connect with your team.

Teams Collaboration Boosted by Microsoft 365 Copilot

Paragraph: Teams is now more collaborative and productive with the integration of Microsoft 365 Copilot. Copilot enhances meeting experiences by providing real-time summaries and action items directly within the context of the conversation. This AI-driven tool ensures that users stay on track and focus on the most important aspects of their team discussions.
